SATYRICON Studio Report #2

SATYRICON mainman Satyr has posted the following studio report from the ongoing mixing sessions at a Danish studio with producer Jeff "Critter" Newell (i.e. MINISTRY, GUNS N' ROSES, FILTER, etc.) for the group's forthcoming album, which is due to be released in August/September through Capitol Records (Scandinavia):

“We're almost done, two songs left to go plus some additional vocals that we will be doing today (April 1st).

“There will be no Yankees on this album (maybe it's fate?). [Ex-MORBID ANGEL frontman] David Vincent is out, as stated in the previous report, and like [PANTERA's] Phil Anselmo said to Revolver magazine: 'I was supposed to sing on the new SATYRICON LP, but I was super-ill and, regretfully, I couldn't do it.'

“We always like to have our friends come and be on our albums and I'm sure we'll catch up with them later.

“Anja Garbarek's doing another little piece today that will show up on the song to be featured as a bonus track on [upcoming 10-year anniversary compilation] Ten Horns - Ten Diadems. “

“[Ten Horns - Ten Diadems] is, by the way, getting closer to a release. Been spending the last nights after mixing on the cover art with our designer. All albums have a song that is seriously going to hold you back and take a lot of extra time, and it's completely unpredictable which one it will be. 'Repined Bastard Nation', the song you will get to hear from the new album on Ten Horns... took twice the time at least to mix, but I think we ended up with what we were looking to get. It strikes me that the songs on this album are extremely different from each other, but there seems to be a scarlet thread through it all—power, atmosphere and dynamics.”
